Today Was a Fairytale

Earlier this week I got together with my dear friend, who has a start up photography business @ Foreverlasting Photography :) Please go like her page The weather was beautiful this Tuesday! And she wanted to get some test shots done, so i volunteered;) We found a secluded little location that was MAGICAL! haha. SO i thought i would share some recent favorite finds for spring:) I AM SO READY for warmer weather, arent you?! In this first look im wearing a top I purchased actually on sale this fall at TjMaxx. The shoes are Forever21! And this skirt i recently got on Ebay for $8!! I love it!  They have a ton of colors! Link Here:)

This one makes me think of Sleeping Beauty, my fav! :)
Below I'm wearing a cutout back top, that I scored at Platos Closet for just a few bucks! With a Victorias Secret bralette underneath makes it perfect for summer months:) I just got the high waisted shorts at Target for 19.99, and I think they just recently went on sale! They have a few different styles!

Boots, Mossimo from Target, i wasnt sure
about them, but i love them now! And the purse
was a find at work for about $7! Gold leaf
bracelet from Old Navy, about $9 :)

I HAD to post a couple more my favorites above. if you want to see even more the Full Album is Here:)

Spring Dreaming

So, I've been slacking, to say the least on this blog. I've been working a lot & have also opened up an insta closet which has kept me busy! Not complaining because it's one of the best ideas ever. (You can shop my closet on Instagram @janamichellescloset).
It's also been FREEZING here, which does not make me want to get outside and take picture. So, i plan on doing a lot more blogging this Spring! But today I went on a double date with my hubby and some friends. it was 80 degrees, so we got out a snapped a few pictures before we went out!

First, I'll start by saying, Old Navy came out with spring clothes this month. Run. Run to your local old navy immediately. These striped popovers are to DIE for! I had to buy this pink one & the mint one. Also, sign up for their emails if you haven't. They send coupons out often! You should basically never pay full price for anything at old navy.

I've recently noticed a lot of online shops selling these sequin clutches for about $30. I decided to do some research because that seemed pricey to me. Luckily I searched eBay. Because they have the IDENTICAL clutch sold everywhere, for $8.99 including shipping. NO JOKE. It's the same one. So, if in doubt, search eBay.

I also recently scored these sunnies on zulily for $30 including shipping! They're Isaac Mazrahi, so this was a steal! If you haven't downloaded zulily, they have tons of great brand new, brand name items for half the price! But when you find it, you've gotta buy it, because their "parties" only last for a few days and items sell out quick!

Thanks for reading everyone! Comments & questions are so welcomed!

Target Valentines Day Haul!

Jana and I recently went to target and discovered great valentines day gifts for our guys! I thought I would share the gifts I decided on, and give the readers gift ideas!:) It's about  one week until valentines day and Target has a lot of their candy and little gifts on sale through the cartwheel app! So this year my boyfriend and I aren't doing expensive gifts but i wanted to get him some little fun things:) The guys clothing always have funny graphic tees, so i picked up the "What does the fox say?" one for $12! He's a star wars fan, and  I came across the cute storm trooper plush in the Vday aisle for like $8! Super hero socks were on clearance for $3 Of course his favorite candy is a must which is Reese's! Grooming products are always a good thoughtful gift for guys! Ive heard alot of great things about this Every Man Jack shaving cream and lotion, and Jana's hubby loves it, so I hope my guy does too:) And they were on clearance too, which is a huge plus! And top it off with a funny card (or romantic, if thats your thing) and youre good to go!

Thanks for reading! I hope it helps you out with picking gifts for your special guy:)
Feel free to leave comments and feedback, and share your gift ideas!

Fashion over Time

Okay ladies, I don't know about you, but as a lover of fashion and vintage things, I love getting caught up in the history of things. I have always been a little bit of a book nerd also and couldnt pass up these books pictured below! The one on the right is the Smithsonian History of Fashion, that I found on clearance for $10 dollars at TjMaxx! The 3 on the left i found at my thrift store for $2 each! They each have sewing, knitting, and crochet patterns, along with tips for decorating the home, and restyling your current wardrobe. Which i didnt get many pictures of these books, but they have really cool ideas I'm totally going to try, like ombre dying an old dress! They were from a series of books by Time and all published in the 70's. In both these books its interesting to see how fashion trends do really come back around.  Also I was drawn to these books because of the artistic covers! They look great on my coffee table, and bookcase:)

Timeline of shoes!
Like I said I am a lover of vintage and old things. For some reason I've always been interested in the renaissance era. They dressed so extravagantly, i mean just look at those shoes! Alot of these things i would wear today if i could haha! And yes, I am one of those people who goes to renaissance festivals and dresses up! Anyone else with me? no? just me, okay. Its just good fun to kind of experience that time period to me!

pictured: (left) 1920's feather skirt   (right) 1960's dresses and handbags

The Smithsonian book has a great read about the history of well known designers, and how they pushed the envelope a little bit! It includes Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Alexander Mcqueen, and many more! So if you happen to come across this book I definitely recommend it! :)
Thanks for reading loves! Tell me what your favorite era of fashion is.
And please leave comments and feedback:)

Hunter Boots on a cloudy day

I've decided it's perfectly acceptable to wear hunters if it's cloudy & supposed to rain? Right? Right. So today I was about & about with my BFF, and let me tell you, we have some beautiful scenery on our drive to the shopping center. So of course, we had to stop and snap a few pictures.

So! This brown plaid, I borrowed from the boys section at old navy. Sometimes, the guys section has cuter plaids than the girls! This cable knit is also from old navy. My red lipstick is Rimmell Kate Moss in 01. I've mentioned before this lipstick is magical and so cheap! It stays on very well. My hunter boots are brown and I got them on eBay. The jeans are Lauren Conrad from Kohls. I used the hot tools wand for my hair. Ladies, if you don't own a wand, you need to.

Thanks for reading, and any comments or questions are welcome!

A chambray kind of day

Why am I just now discovering "candy yum-yum" MAC lipstick?! I think I've worn it everyday since I found it. And of course, I coordinate outfits just so I can wear it. This chambray half button up is from old navy, now on clearance! I'm obsessed with it, because it's super long and can be worn with leggings. Also, this Barbie pink cardigan is from old navy. 19$! I've been searching for one this color FOREVER. ladies, you need this, it's perfect for the winter-spring transition! It can be worn over button ups or throw it over a floral dress in the spring. Either way, who DOESNT love a good neon pink staple piece?! This gold glitter belt buckle bracelet is from Express. I just picked it up yesterday for 40% off!

Thanks so much for reading! Comments are so loved and welcomed!

Nude & Neon

Lately, I've been obsessed with matching. Like, more extreme than usual. And I'm loving the trend of muted outfits with pops of neon.

This polka dot tunic is from Modcloth.com. It's the easiest thing to throw on and look cute! The nude flats are from express! Very comfy and basically match everything. I scored this gold clutch from a local thrift store for 3 DOLLARS. So exciting. And of course, wearing the Lauren Conrad jeggings from Kohls again. I don't think I've taken these off since I got them. So so comfy!

Lipstick is of course, the ever popular, Mac Candy Yum-Yum. Nail Polish is Chinaglaze neon pink.

This cute long rhinestone necklace is from Target! It was $16, and is now on sale for $12. It dresses up a plane outfit and I love it!

Thanks so much for reading and I'd love love your comments or questions!

DIY Nails

As promised heres a little tutorial on how i did my nails in my last post!

I discovered this genius idea on pinterest! Remember those craft scissors that we all used as a kid to cut zigzags on paper?! Well if you still have some laying around, heres a new use for them, chevron nails! I started off painting my nails a coral color, its a victorias secret nail polish i got on sale a while back, love it! I let that color dry, then with some scotch tape I cut a piece with the craft scissors. It took a couple times to get a good outcome. Once I did, I then put the tape over a nail and painted with Sally Hansen 'Golden'. I did the chevron pattern an about every other nail. I left a couple nails just one color. And on a couple others i went over it with Sally Hansen "Strobe Light' for a little extra sparkle! Then of course a clear top coat over that. Needless to say I had a ton of compliments on this one, and I LOVE the color combo:)

I hope you give this a try!:) Good luck and Enjoy:)

Yesterday Jana and I decided to do a little shopping and a little picture taking, in our beautiful Texas weather! It was below freezing last week, and 65 degrees this weekend! Like I have said before if you have a Plato's near you, you should definitely check it out:)

We also had to stop by target! They have a TON of stuff on sale! Which I had to resist so many things, me and Jana are supposed to be doing a 'no spend month' on things we don't need, shhhh... But they have had cute home decor 30% off, along with shoes, and jewelry was 50% off!

You're Never Too Old for a Sleepover

Last night I went over to Jana's apartment for some good girl talk, wedding shows, skinny girl wine and some crafts! I have gotten into crocheting alot here recently, especially headbands/earwarmers., so i thought we could give that a shot! Jana is a little craft challenged, and I am a horrible teacher, so you can imagine how that went. ha! Heres Jana's frustration pictured below.  Anyway despite the total fail of me teaching her how to crochet, we still had a great time as always!

I actually did finish a headband and added some super cute buttons to it! And let her keep it as a souvenir:)
Also she got bored and played a little dress up! A little preview into her spring wardrobe;)

Here is a link to the video i based my headband from, if you would like to try it for yourself, and it shows you how to make it 3 different ways, including adding a cute bow! DIY: Crocheted Knot or Bow Headband

I also have these for sale in my shop listed in the sidebar, if your'e crafty challenged like Jana:)

Dresses, Dresses, Dresses!

Hello Ladies! Brandi here:) and I thought I would share with you some of my favorite dressy dresses! Now I'm am 80% of the time a tshirt and jeans kind of girl, but every so often i LOVE getting a little bit dressed up! I mean, don't we all? These dresses are perfect for a night out, or if you have a formal event to go to! All of these I have listed were great steals at 50 dollars and under! And they are all now listed for sale in my shop, (as much as I might like dressing up, i don't have chances to very often) there is a link in the side bar!

1. -far left picture- Vintage black sequin dress with gold beading at the top! I love this dress so much, its sophisticated and kinda sexy at the same time! It's kinda a stretchy material, so its very easy to wear!
2. -top middle picture- I bought this dress at my closest Platos Closet, if you haven't been to one, you're missing out click the link to find one near you. http://www.platoscloset.com/. Anyway i wore it one time on vacation. Its super comfortable and it has my favorite detail, pockets!
3. -bottom middle picture- I scored this dress at my thrift store, its from forever 21, and I thought it was going to be perfect for my cruise in October, but i actually forgot to pack it! ha! It's a nice silky material and very flattering shape!
4. -far right picture- Gorgeous floor length halter evening dress. This would make an amazing prom dress! I actually wish i had it back when i went to prom! Which was 6 years ago, wow am i that old already?! This was another great deal from my job! I always recommend checking out your local thrift stores and boutiques, you never know what you're going to find!

Put a bow on it!

So these photos were actually taken in my husband and i's apartment! We were getting ready to head out into a field to snap a few pictures, the sun was setting and I noticed how beautifully the sun was shining through our curtains, so we went with it!
These shoes I bought recently from Tj Maxx. They were $16.99. I love them because they look formal enough to pair with a dress on a night out, but soo comfy as opposed to wearing heals all night!

This sparkly bracelet is from Francesca's! I bought it about a month ago for $15,  the band is stretchy so it can pretty much fit any wrist. I love love love it! My watch is Betsy Johnson. I scored it on Poshmark for $30! If you haven't checked out Poshmark yet you definitely need to! You can get some great brands of gently used things for a steal and also sell some of your own! I sell things on there and the link to my closet is on our homepage!

This bow top was an Instagram inspiration! My insta friend @thestyleverdict shared this one and I had to have it. It's from Kohls by Lauren Conrad. I got it on sale yesterday for $22. I also bought the LC jeggings (shown here). These are, say it again with me ladies, STRETCHY. My favorite word. And they really do look like jeans. So deceptive;).

Hope everyone had a great New Year's Day and your comments would be loved!
